About the 2018 Lent Fitness Program
Get ready to move! Join the Health and Wellness Ministry of La Casa in renewing your commitment to walking and exercising during Lent! There are two components to this ministry: A physical walking component and a virtual walking component. You are invited to physically walk (wherever and whenever you desire, at your own pace) for the season of Lent. Every week we will collectively record the total miles of all participants. These miles will help us on our virtual walk as we visit sites from the first chapters of the Bible in the cradle of Mesopotamia, all via an online blog! The program will directly correspond with this year’s Lent theme of In The Beginning! A flat $35 registration fee gets you signed up and all the money goes to help an international church as a part of La Casa’s mission work (see more about this below, it’s VERY exciting!).
How It Works
For 6 weeks (Feb 14 – Mar 28) during Lent exercise on your own by walking, running, biking, doing yoga, weightlifting or whatever form of exercise works for you. Keep track of your miles (15 minutes of physical activity = 1 mile) and turn in your miles weekly via this website or at the Ministry Table at weekend worship. See the 6 week schedule below.
$35 will cover your participation cost. Payment is due at time of registration. The money goes towards a great mission opportunity! See below!
Virtual Online Travel Blog
To make it fun, Pastor Matthew Knopf leads us in an online travel blog, sharing where our miles have taken us each week. We will walk virtually to the sites connected to our In The Beginning Lenten theme!

All money raised from the Lent Fitness Program goes directly towards a mission project. This year, the money will go to a church in Central Mexico that the 2018 La Casa Mission Team will partner with. Our church Mission Team will personally hand-deliver the offering to the church this summer and you will hear exactly how the money is used. Last year $3,110 was raised through the Fitness Program and presented to the Lutheran Church in San Miguel, El Salvador. It too was hand-delivered by our mission team. The money was used to make much needed repairs to their church building! Here is a message from the pastor thanking participants for the offering:
