But it is the spirit in a person, the breath of the Almighty, that gives them understanding. Job 32:8
When I was in high school I had the honor of going on multiple La Casa Senior High summer trips. One of the trips was to Los Angeles just after the1992 riots. Seeing firsthand the aftermath of the riots brought tears to our eyes.
The community around the church where we stayed bonded in new ways and their attitudes were inspiring. Not just the way they spoke about hope and healing, but how they wanted to help others. It was truly amazing to see a community come together and care for one another. My good friend and I attended a Sunday morning Baptist church service during that trip, and the service was electric. I remember seeing people jump up and speak out during the service as if the Holy Spirit was amplified. During those difficult times, God inspired people to care more about each other and dig deeper into their faith. After that trip, God inspired me to do more each day!
As I think of the story of Job, I realize he could have given up and cursed God, but he chose to stay faithful. With God’s help he inspired others around him to do more!
During this week, take a moment to ask yourself: How has God inspired me? How can I inspire others to do more?
