Live in peace with one another. And…warn those who are idle, encourage the timid, help the weak, be patient with everyone. Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always try to be kind to each other. 1 Thessalonians 5:13-15
Usually, we become friends with others because of things we have in common. Lately though, I find myself in conversations with friends about the pandemic or politics and we don’t always agree. I’ve even thought, How in the world could we be living in the same world and see things so differently? How is it possible that we’ve been friends for so long and disagree so?
But, the conversations I find most rewarding and enjoyable are the ones where we can agree to disagree and try to understand where each other is coming from. As humans, we may be misinformed or misguided in some of our thoughts. It’s when we are willing to listen and learn from each other that we are able to continue to love and respect each other. Pray that we can be patient and kind with each other as we all try to do our best in these uncertain times.
