Be Still

Be still, and know that I am God… Psalm 46:10

Have you ever looked up the word busy? Synonyms include: occupied, crowded, demanding, hectic, and tiring. Do those words describe your life?

Our family has had times in our lives where “busy” was the prominent word to describe us. When quarantine first hit, suddenly that word took a backseat. Instead of busy, we found ourselves filled with time and stillness. We had time to spend together, time to create together, and time to simply be still.

Busyness can also be defined as “full of activity.” Activity can be full of meaning and joy. When our identity becomes the word “busy” it can lead us on a dangerous path.

Psalm 46:10 says to “Be still, and know that I am God.” In order to be still, we must pause and look closely at what fills our day. Are you taking intentional time to be still with God? Are you spending time with God or are you filling your day with so many things that demand your time that you are too drained to stop?

Today I challenge you to give yourself stillness with God. Take some time in your day to be with Him.
