Be Still

March 22, 2020

“Be still and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10

Right now, life is requiring us to slow down.

For many of us (myself included) this may feel scary and different. Our lives are generally on-the-go. We go out often, run between activities and rarely have a chance to be still.

While stillness isn’t my speciality or gift per se, I am excited to take these next few weeks and slow down. It will be a treasured time I get to spend with my family and it will allow me to recognize the amazing things God has in my life for me. My family and I will be able to enjoy each other, play the games that have sat on the shelf and get outside together (even if it’s our own backyard) to enjoy God’s beautiful creation.

I know this transition isn’t easy. It’s not something we were expecting or something that we may have been prepared for. Our emotions are likely all over the place. These are all okay feelings to feel right now.

Let’s take a minute to focus on the second part of that verse, “KNOW that I am God.”

In these uncertain times, we have one thing that remains certain and that is God. Our God is a God who loves us, cares for us and is watching over us. Stillness requires us to look to Him, trust Him and cling to our faith in Him.

I pray that you too choose to be still and look to God.
