Disappointment

December 4, 2020

Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts… Romans 5:3-5

Do you find yourself feeling disappointed that your annual holiday tradition has been changed or canceled? You are not alone. There is plenty of expectation-bound disappointment going around this year.

How do we overcome this disappointment? We turn it over to God. He will use it to build endurance, character, and hope in all of us. Worshiping through our disappointment will bring growth and connection to our faith. Maybe this is our opportunity to let go of the busyness and high expectations of the holiday season. Maybe this is our opportunity to focus on bringing connection and growth to our family and community.

Dear Lord, help us to turn disappointment over to you. Help us to encourage and build community, make new memories with our family, and grow in our faith. May we be fulfilled with full hearts of your love during this holiday season.
