All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God. Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 2 Corinthians 4:15-16
I moved to Arizona from North Carolina in 2005 to start my master’s degree at ASU. After about a year of living alone in my first apartment–and really far from my parents–I was amazed, frankly, that I somehow knew how to keep myself alive. Within the next year, I had a cat and I found it near miraculous that I had kept both of us alive. Later still, I had two cats…then a wife…then a child…and now a third cat.
As, on my 40th birthday, I still think it’s a miracle that I continue to keep myself fed, clothed, etc., and help keep others alive! Trillions of people have done this before me, so why am I surprised?
Although I joke about it being a “miracle” that I continue to survive without my parents doing everything for me, I always remember the greatest miracle of Jesus’ birth and resurrection, and that he freed me from my sin.
Lord, thank you for this life and for your Son Jesus Christ. May I be ever mindful of your miraculous works and deeds.
