Get all the advice you can and be wise the rest of your life. Proverbs 19:20
Our marriage started with a slight fairy-tale feel. I remember having so much fun and wearing a non-stop smile on our wedding day. I began to think our marriage was immune to the problems others faced. Maybe you felt the same way and then suddenly found yourself in serious conflict with your spouse.
Whom do you talk to when the fairy tale goes south? You may talk to trusted friends, parents, pastors, and/or paid counselors. But do you also talk to Jesus about your marriage through prayer? One of the greatest resources available to you is prayer. Only God can work to change a heart (yours or your spouse’s). By praying, you are asking the Author of your story for help—to do what only He can do.
Your “happily ever after” may require you to fight for your marriage and listen to the advice of experts. I promise, it will be well worth it.
