“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
The most terrifying thing I ever did was move out of the country. Of course, it was only one semester abroad, but I was leaving behind everyone I knew, going to a place where I wasn’t fluent in the language, and I felt totally isolated. I prepared a lot, but it didn’t do much to ease my mind.
This turned out to be the best decision I’ve ever made to personally grow. I didn’t read much of the Bible, but I did read one verse every day while I was there: Jeremiah 29:11. I know it is often seen as a promise, but truthfully, it’s evidence of God’s Truth. When He promises, He follows through. I knew He had plans for me, and only by going out of my comfort zone did I learn to let Him handle things in my life. I pray that each of us answers these sometimes scary calls from God, because the scarier they are, the more we grow into who God wants us to be.
