When I was growing up, my dad would plant sunflowers in our large garden. Sunflowers have always been one of my favorites, and just a few months ago I discovered some remarkable things about these bright and cheerful flowers.
As sunflowers are growing, they actually move to follow the sun throughout the day. On cloudy days, they turn toward each other, to share energy. This reminds me of how, as Christians, we follow God and draw from His divine knowledge. When we are struggling with the world around us we can turn to our fellow Christians to help focus our thoughts and prayers toward God.
The next time you see a sunflower, remember how they follow the sun to grow, as we follow God to grow our faith in Him. When we go through tough, “cloudy” times, we can turn to other Christians and help encourage each other.
