God’s Command For You

September 4, 2020

This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9

At the beginning of the book of Joshua, Moses has died, and Joshua is left to lead God’s people into the Promised Land. Can you imagine all the thoughts that must have been going through Joshua’s head? Maybe that’s why God tells him three times to be strong and courageous and two times that He would be with him (Joshua 1:5-9).

Chances are your challenges are not as great as Joshua’s. But if they are, these are the words God wants you to take to heart. Forget about worrying—it will only sap your energy and courage. Instead, know with certainty that God is with you. He will never leave you. No matter where you go, God is there. So be strong and brave. God’s got you!

Thank you, Lord, for your encouraging words. Help us get them through our heads so that we can be the strong and courageous people you have designed us to be!  Amen.
