The Lord said to her, “My dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details! There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:41-42
Are you a Martha or a Mary? We had a MOMS ministry speaker who suggested we try to put a little Mary in our Martha so we are a good balance of both.
Martha had invited Jesus to come into her home. But while she was rushing around preparing food for Jesus and the other guests, her sister, Mary, “sat at the Lord’s feet, listening to what he taught” (Luke 10:39). Martha went to Jesus saying, “Lord doesn’t it seem unfair to you that my sister just sits here while I do all the work? Tell her to come and help me” (Luke 10:40). That’s when Jesus made it clear that Martha shouldn’t be worried or upset. There was only one thing to focus on—Jesus and His words.
Today, turn your worries over to Jesus. Let Him know you are interested in one thing only—listening to what He has to say.
Here I am Lord, sitting at your feet. Please speak to me. I am listening. Amen.
