Keep awake, therefore, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming. Matthew 24:42
We’ve entered the season of Advent, a time when we are invited to watch and wait. These two activities run contrary to the manic mood of the Christmas buying season that we are constantly urged to join. As adults, we often struggle to find balance between these aspects of Advent. The remedy is simple – watch children as they experience Advent and Christmas through their un-expectant eyes. They delight in the littlest things, seemingly insignificant to our “older” and “wiser” eyes. Their hearts can be instantly filled with joy over what we may consider ordinary, like singing Happy Birthday to Jesus and celebrating His day as if it were their friend’s birthday. It’s just as special, just as meaningful. Their faces can give you the first glimpse of the true Christmas spirit we are waiting for!!
