No Greater Joy
“I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.” 3 John 1:4
As a dad, this is a powerful verse. It is both challenging and comforting all at the same time.
When I read this verse I hear a challenge in it as a father. I have a responsibility of helping my kids walk in truth. Am I doing all that I can to share faith with my children? Am I being an appropriate example for my kids?
I also find comfort in the verse. I can’t think of my kids and not be filled with joy. I know that they are children of God. They walk in truth simply because they are in God’s family. That is joyful and comforting.
As I consider this verse today, I accept the challenge of it calling me to be a better parent, especially in regards to a life of faith. At the same time, I am filled with joy knowing that all children are God’s children. Let us walk in truth.
