You shall eat the fruit of the labor of your hands; you shall be blessed, and it shall be well with you. Psalm 128:2
Confession: I don’t like vacations. I want to work and create.
Have you watched The Crown, season 4, with Gillian Anderson as Margaret Thatcher? She worked continuously and even wanted to work during her mandatory vacation. If you’re like me, occasionally you identify with certain characters in a show or movie. My wife and I immediately agreed that I am the Margaret Thatcher of this season.
I’m probably missing out on certain things in life by “working” all the time. (I often sub at other churches when I’m required to take time off from La Casa!) But the irony is, the last time I said “I’m going to work” was probably in 1995 when I worked at a golf course weed-eating all day.
I thank the Lord every day for the opportunity to be his servant, both in personal time and professional. I pray that you also find peace and enjoyment in your daily job, tasks, studies, or hobbies.
