The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory. Romans 8:15-17 NIV
With Christmas upon us, we may find our brains wandering to presents yet to buy and family that we won’t be able to see. Our hearts are occupied with holiday anxiety.
But you see, “The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.”
As you read this, I challenge you to find a few minutes today to think about this Christmas promise. A promise of salvation. A promise of sonship, and being co-heirs with Christ.
What does that mean to you? And what can you do each day to remember this promise during the busy holiday season?
