The Apostles Peter and John were present to hear Jesus preach, heal the sick, and perform powerful miracles. They were eyewitnesses of Jesus’ crucifixion and the resurrected Jesus. Forty years later, they wrote their epistles to believers experiencing political, social, and personal persecution. Peter and John offer words of encouragement and hope. These words were written, Peter says, “to encourage you and testifying that this is the true grace of God. 1 Peter 5:12

Twenty centuries later Christians still struggle with life in the modern world. Too often we find ourselves lost and alone in a world we don’t understand or recognize.  These Epistles proclaim that God continues to enable us to live lives of hope and purpose based in the resurrection of his Son from the dead. Life together in worship and Bible Study are means by which the Holy Spirit keeps putting our lives in the hands of the heavenly Father.
