And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him. Matthew 6:7-8
I pray with my boys every night before they go to bed. We thank God for our day, we ask God to keep them both safe as they sleep, to keep them healthy, and we pray for a good day tomorrow. In so many words, I have said the same prayer with them every night since they were toddlers. They know exactly what the prayer says and what it means. It is a simple prayer but carries so much meaning.
That is what our Father requests of us: to pray boldly, but to also pray simply. Talk to God in conversation. Share your thoughts with Him, out loud or in your heart. It doesn’t have to be complicated. After all, our Father knows us best and knows what we need before we even ask him. What a comforting thought to carry with us each and every day.
