I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety. Psalm 4:8

Most of us seek to be with someone who makes us feel safe, someone who will take care of us and love us. When we’re young that is usually a parent, and as we get older it may be our spouse or partner in life. When the person we thought would keep us safe is not able to or is unwilling to, it can be daunting. We may feel disappointed, disillusioned, and even angered by this realization.

Our faith in God can fill this emptiness created by another human who cannot be there in the way we want them to be. God is our real protector and the one who will always keep us safe and cared for. In John 17:25, Jesus prays for all believers: “May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.”

#LaCasaFamily Safe Environment

Creating A Safe Church Environment

“Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” Ephesians 4:32

God’s word invites us to treat one another just as God treats us; with kindness and compassion.  The way that we treat each other is to reflect the ways of our Lord.

To bully a brother or sister is to make another the object of harassment.  Human beings, however, are not objects to be treated with intimidation or mockery in any form.  Human beings are special and loved by God, as every person is created in the image of God.

The #LaCasaFamily takes matters of abuse against one another very seriously.  This includes emotional, verbal, physical, and spiritual abuse.  No act of abuse will be tolerated in our community life together.  No act of mild teasing or aggressive intimidation, whether online or in person, is acceptable.  To act in this way is contrary to healthy human community and opposite in nature of our very relationship with God, our Maker.  Bullying by any nature is inconsistent with the Good News of Jesus Christ and inconsistent with our ways of following Jesus.

Our #LaCasaFamily principles are to walk in love, walk in unity, and to walk in Christ.  Therefore, we strive to create safe environments at church, online, and in our full community life together in order to uphold our witness of a loving and caring God reflected in a loving and caring church.  As we walk with one another we lift each other up, not tear each other down.  We promote peace and care for one another.  Our Christian life together is a call to value, protect, and preserve the image of God in every individual person.

#LaCasaFamily encourages opposition to bullying not only as theological concern but in practice.  Teachings are shared which promote healthy community environments.  All leaders, volunteer and staff, abide by anti-bullying measures as well.

We look forward to working alongside God’s people in promoting kindness and compassion amongst one another as God’s children in his church family.
