But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. Matthew 6:33
I often find myself worrying about tomorrow, then the next day, and not much later my brain is thinking about five years from now. Maybe you do the same. It’s completely human to worry. But in actuality, we are not guaranteed a tomorrow. So we must choose to live for today, to try to make the most of it and to place our worries in Christ’s hands.
Today, as you go about your day, I challenge you…
When you feel yourself begin to worry, try to bring yourself back to now. For example, when you begin to worry think:
“Christ, I put this worry in your hands. Let’s focus on now.” To focus on now means paying attention to what’s going on around you. Maybe it’s your kids playing with trucks and laughing, or your drive home from a long day at work, or even just assessing how you’re feeling.
Hey God, there are a lot of things to be worried about right now. I know, I cannot do this alone. I pray that you guide me, and lead me to where I need to be. Lord, I lay these worries in your hands. And I pray that I am able to see your glory in everyday moments, for your glory is everywhere. Help me to be fully present in these moments. Amen.
