How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, “Your God reigns!” Isaiah 52:7
I spoke this week with a 2020 college graduate who is going into ministry. I admire the commitment Cameron and his wife are making and I was inspired by his personal testimony.
When he started college, Cameron said, he wanted to make friends and fit in. He could have chosen many routes to fulfill that goal. His first semester, however, a Bible study leader invited him to dinner. Through the course of several meetings, the relationship grew and included others until Cameron became part of a community of believers. He marvels at how different his four years could have been if not for that one person reaching out and sharing the Good News.
Isaiah challenges us to venture out onto the “mountain”—the world of social media, cancel culture, and discontented one-upsmanship—and proclaim peace. One person at a time.
Lord Jesus, be with all of us who are on the mountain inviting others to know you. Give us the words, the wisdom, and the will to be those “beautiful feet” at this time. Amen
