“For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12
What a wonderful opportunity we have to put a Bible verse before us each day. The Word of God is intended to penetrate into our hearts. It is to be carried around with us throughout the day. In this way, the Word of God is alive. It is not a stagnant word, it is active in our daily living.
For many, the Holy Bible is a book that sits in the back of the pews at church. What if we changed our understanding of the Bible to the Word of God that we carried around in our hearts? That when we say, “Open up your Bible”, we were also saying “Open up your heart”.
Of course, once those verses are in our hearts they will do some work on us. They will judge and change the thoughts and attitudes of our heart. They will lead us in new, healthier directions – in the direction of God’s ways.
I look forward to these coming days where we will have a Bible verse to ponder and consider each and every day. May God’s Spirit continuously penetrate our soul and spirit with His Word.
