Our Veterans Ministry is proud to host honored guest speakers of our nation and breakfast for the La Casa community each month. All are welcome.
The next Veterans Breakfast is Saturday, May 25, 7:30am in Fellowship Hall.
Rear Admiral Dr. Connie Mariano—US Navy
Connie Mariano was born in the Philippines to a Navy steward and his dentist wife. Connie was the valedictorian of her high school, graduated with honors from the University of California at San Diego, and earned a medical degree from the Uni-formed Services University of Medicine, and had a distinguished 24-year career in the US Navy.
Dr. Mariano was first to be named for these achievements:
- 1st military woman as Physician to the President
- 1st woman Director of the White House Medical Unit
- 1st Filipino American to become a Rear Admiral in the US Navy
In 2001, after nine years of service to three standing US Presidents: Bush, Clinton and Bush, Dr. Mariano retired, and lives in Scottsdale, where she continues her work in the medical field as a practicing physician.
Following Dr. Mariano’s presentation, there will be a book signing of her memoir, The White House Doctor: My Patients Were Presidents, available for $20.00 cash.

Our Veterans Ministry is a community of veterans, their families, and those with a heart to support active duty military, veterans, and their families. Our mission is to connect a community of veterans to honor and support each other with compassion and understanding.
All are invited to the Veterans Ministry breakfast and presentation. In addition to breakfast, veterans may visit the Veterans Booth to speak with experts for information and helpful resources.
Here are some of the benefits of registering as a veteran or active duty:
