Our Veterans Ministry is proud to host honored guest speakers of our nation and breakfast for the La Casa community each month. All are welcome!
All are invited to the Veterans Ministry breakfast and presentation. In addition to breakfast, veterans may visit the Veterans Booth to speak with experts for information and helpful resources.

Major Michelle Jilek
US Air Force
Michelle “Twitch” Jilek is the embedded Aerospace Physical Therapist at the 56th Training Squadron, Luke Air Force Base, AZ. Maj. Jilek is also the Flight Commander of the 56th Fighter Wing Human Performance Team and Program Director of the Tactical Integrated Training and Nutrition program at Luke. She is the first-ever Aerospace Physical Therapist to attain aeronautical orders and achieve flying status in the history of the US Air Force. Major Jilek regularly completes routine sorties in various fighter aircraft with the task of fully understanding the physical and mental stressors of the high gravity environment. She enables optimal readiness to maintain air superiority for the U.S. by implementing both preventative and curative physical therapy to air crew, with focus on treatment of high-G induced injuries of the spine.

Major Michael Hughey

Michael Hughey has volunteered or been deployed in various assignments from 2009 in Okinawa, Japan in support of operations Cobra Gold, Balikatan, and humanitarian relief efforts in the Philippines, Indonesia, and Malaysia to Camp Lejeune, North Carolina to Officer Candidate School in Quantico, Virginia. Upon completion of the Basic Officer Course and Supply Management course, 2nd Lt.
Hughey was assigned to Seal Beach, California where he led combat logistics trains. He led and executed annual training plan and designed/incorporated the first annual battalion-wide battlefield combat skills field exercise, replacing the previous exam. As 1st Lt.
Hughey has designed and executed the annual training plan for a Detachment of over 100 Marines and Sailors. In 2022, Capt. Hughey volunteered for transfer into the IMA program as a Recruiting Support Officer with RS Phoenix out of Phoenix, AZ where he served as the state’s only RSO. Major Michael Hughey is currently serving as the Company Commander for Maintenance Services Company out of Sacramento, California. He resides in Phoenix, AZ.
