Shanna Woyak began her military career in 1986, and received a direct commission as an Air Force Clinical Nurse in 1995. She served in multiple patient care roles, including obstetrics, operating room, emergency medicine, Air Transportable Hospitals, and a flying ambulance trauma team. She held many managerial and directorial positions until, in 2002, General Woyak was deployed to Turkey, and then to Iraq in 2007. She served nationally and abroad, earning major achievements, awards, and decorations, including the Legion of Merit, the Defense Superior Service medal, the Meritorious Service medal with 2 oak leaves, and the Iraq Campaign Medal with one oak leaf cluster.

There were eight promotions in her career. The first was in 1995, being promoted to Second Lieutenant, until in 2021, she ultimately rose to the rank of Major General.

Major General Shanna Woyak retired from the Air Force in 2024, and now resides in the Phoenix Area.
