Although raised on the beaches of Southern California, my family temporarily moved to New Mexico where we spent five of my earliest years as my parents worked in a Christian Boarding School for the Navajo children of that state. Years later, I realized that it was in that environment where I first learned about respect for others, honesty, nature, appreciation of all things living, different cultures, sense of family and the importance of having a church life.
Upon returning to San Diego, these values were further modeled by my faithful parents, a grandmother, and friends. Later in life, when asked to participate in speaking engagements, the consistent thread in my message was that I always knew I was loved, both by my family and by Jesus. This significant belief has been the foundation of my Christian faith.
Blessed by 57 years of marriage to my husband Randy, the raising of our two loving daughters and inheriting two wonderful sons-in-law, and the delight of four grandchildren, I have found great joy in sharing my faith as a Sunday School Teacher, a speaker at Women’s Retreats and a Couples Retreat, a Mentor Mom for Mother’s of Preschool Children, a Choir Member, an Altar Guild member, a Lenten Leader and by hosting numerous Bible Studies in my home.
For me, it is a privilege to be the Director of Adult Education at La Casa de Cristo; it is a privilege to find and support incredible volunteer teachers as they offer life-changing classes on all things related to our Christian faith. The classes provide a time of fellowship with one another as well as the opportunity to grow in faith and deepen our understanding of God, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. It is through the study of His Word that we grasp “how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ” for each of us. What a blessing!
