Real Stories from Real People

Storytellers

Come and hear fascinating life journeys as people share their stories live in an intimate setting. Sit back and relax in comfortable chairs as you hear tales from others about life, faith and God. You won’t believe these stories! It is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about others in your church family. All Storytellers are appointed beforehand so your job is just to listen and enjoy their amazing stories. You will not regret coming! Drinks are served and a good time is had by all!

Our next Storytellers are Anna Ostlie, Frank Heldt and Helen Yung.

The Storytellers

Anna Ostlie

I’m Anna Ostlie, a senior at Grand Canyon University, finishing my fifth year of college basketball. I played for three years at Boise State before transferring to GCU. I was confirmed at La Casa de Cristo where I have been able to grow my faith in Jesus. As I prepare to graduate this spring, I’m thankful for the experiences and lessons I’ve gained, both on the court and off, and I look forward to what God has in store for me next.

Frank Heldt

Frank is the president of Heldt Lumber Company, a 65-year-old business selling lumber and building materials. He is an active member of the board of directors of several Christian charity organizations, including Fuller Seminary and Christians in Commerce.

At church, Frank is a PHD graduate, a member of a men’s discipleship group, was an Alpha leader for many years, and a leader of the congregational study of the Purpose Driven Life.

He and his wife, Pat, have been members of La Casa de Cristo since 1975. Frank has guided our various building projects, has served on the Board of Trustees since 2000, is the former chairman of the Board, former Vice President of the congregation.

Helen Yung

Helen Yung was born in 1949, the same year that Mao Zedong’s Communist Party established control over China. From the time she was born, she was taught to give her ultimate allegiance to Mao and the Party, to reject any Western influences (even classical music!), and to ascribe to an atheistic worldview. But God had other plans, and through a series of miracles, He rescued Helen not only from the terrors of the Communist regime, but from the ultimate problem of sin.
